WHAT WE DO

Our vision for TCCMF revolves around building a thriving, robust community around the trans singing community. This means not only artistic outlets (like choir), but advocating for trans inclusion in school music programs, research in trans-inclusive music education practice, training for music teachers and building a community music center for the NYC trans community.

Domains outlined in gold indicate areas in which the foundation has already made significant development.

VISIBILITY

IN-PROGRESS: Visibility work includes the TRANScend Ambassadors, a semi-professional performing ensemble, our Composer in Residence program and our Artist Collaboration programs, as well as our DEI events (primarily for Trans Day of Remembrance/Resilience and Pride History month.

ADVOCACY

FUTURE GOAL: Our vision for work includes lobbying for political support of music programs, both public and educational, for trans kids and adults, as well as publications in support of trans music and choral involvement and program development.

OUTREACH

IN-PROGRESS: Our outreach vision is community-based, and is built around developing a community choral music program for New York City. This includes the TRANScend Community Chorale (current), as well as community music programs and a community music center in NYC (future).

FINANCIAL

FUTURE GOAL: Aside from foundation financial development, our vision includes funding scholarships and programs for trans singers, composers and conductors in the field of choral music.

ACADEMIC

IN-PROGRESS: For TCCMF, our academic aspirations are based in the work that both the founder and board already do - research on trans populations in music education and workshops/programs for training music educators and administrators on inclusive teaching practices and methods.

FOUNDATION DEVELOPMENT

IN-PROGRESS: Aside from our community-focused initiatives, we are currently focused on developing a sustainable non-profit organization: building operational reserves, acquiring both volunteer and contract support from experts in the field and developing a board that is representative of our community.
